Privacy Policy

FungalNailTest.com ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you buy and use our at-home nail test kit, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

1. Information we collect

• Order information: your name, email address, shipping address and order details. Payment is processed by PayPal; we never see or store your full card or bank details.
• Sample information: the nail sample you send us and the details you write on the sample form (such as your order number, name, date of collection and which nail was sampled).
• Test results: the outcome of the qPCR analysis of your sample.
• Website information: basic technical data such as your approximate country (used to show prices in your currency), browser type and pages visited.
• Checkout email (optional): if you type your email address on our checkout page, we save it with your cart (number of kits, total and any discount code) and the time. We use it only for your order and, if you don't finish checking out, to send you one reminder email. Every reminder has a one-click unsubscribe link, and once you unsubscribe we keep only a scrambled (one-way hashed) copy of your address so we never remind you again. We automatically delete checkout emails after 90 days. You can leave the field empty and still pay with PayPal.
• Email signup: if you join our email list (for example, to get 10% off your first kit), your email address and a record of your consent.

2. How we use your information

• To process and ship your order and send tracking details.
• To match your sample to your order, analyse it and email your results to you.
• To respond to your questions and provide customer support.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
• To understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it (see section 8).
• If you signed up for our email list, to give you your discount code and send you occasional emails. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not use your sample or results for marketing, and we will only email you marketing messages if you have opted in.

3. Your sample

Your nail sample is used only to test for fungal DNA. It is not used for human genetic testing, research or any other purpose. Samples are securely destroyed after testing is complete.

4. Who we share information with

We share only what is necessary with trusted service providers who help us run the business, including:

• PayPal, to process payments.
• Canada Post or other carriers, to deliver kits and return samples.
• The licensed healthcare professional who analyses and reviews your sample, who is bound by professional confidentiality obligations.
• Email and website hosting providers.
• Google Analytics, to measure website traffic and orders (see section 8).
• Meta (Facebook), to measure how well our ads perform (see section 8).
• Formspree, which processes the email signup form on our website and passes your email address to us.

Some providers (such as PayPal, Google and Formspree) may store information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information if required by law.

5. How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes (generally up to 7 years). Test results are kept only as long as needed to provide them to you and answer follow-up questions, unless the law requires longer retention. Optional checkout emails from people who didn't complete an order are deleted after 90 days.

6. How we protect it

We use reasonable physical, electronic and administrative safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, restricted access to results, and secure handling of samples.

7. Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to legal record-keeping requirements). You can also withdraw consent to optional uses at any time. To make a request, email support@fungalnailtest.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

8. Cookies, analytics and location

Our website uses your browser's local storage to remember your country so prices display in the right currency, and uses a third-party lookup service to estimate your country from your internet connection. Our payment provider, PayPal, may set its own cookies during checkout.

If you arrive through an affiliate or referral link, we may set a first-party cookie (lasting about 30 days) so we can credit that referral if you later place an order. The cookie stores only a referral code (not your name, email or address). You can delete cookies in your browser settings.

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website (for example, pages viewed, device type, approximate location and whether an order was completed). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies, and the information is processed by Google. We do not send your name, email address, sample details or test results to Google Analytics. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

We also use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram), to measure how well our ads perform. When you use our website, Meta may receive browsing events (such as the pages you view) and purchase events (such as the order number and the amount paid). The Meta Pixel uses cookies and similar technologies, and the information is processed by Meta. To opt out, you can change how Meta uses this information to show you ads in your Facebook ad preferences, and you can block or delete cookies, or block third-party tracking, in your browser settings.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
