These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of FungalNailTest.com and your purchase of our at-home nail test kit. By placing an order, you agree to these Terms.

1. What the test is

Our kit lets you collect a nail clipping at home and mail it back for qPCR DNA analysis, which detects whether fungal DNA is present in the sample. Results are reviewed and signed off by a licensed Canadian podiatrist or a medical laboratory technologist (MLT) we contract, and emailed to you.

2. Not a substitute for medical care

The test provides information to help guide your care decisions. It is not a treatment, and it does not replace an in-person examination, diagnosis or advice from a healthcare provider. Nail changes can have many causes. Please consult a healthcare provider about your results and any treatment. If you have diabetes, poor circulation, a weakened immune system, pain, swelling, or signs of infection, see a healthcare provider promptly.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to order. A parent or guardian may order and collect a sample on behalf of a minor.

4. Collecting and returning your sample

• Follow the kit instructions carefully. Samples that are too small, contaminated, unlabelled, or missing an order number may not be testable.
• Please return your sample within 60 days of receiving your kit.
• Results are usually emailed within 4–14 days after your sample arrives. Delays caused by postal services or high volumes are possible.
• If your sample cannot be tested for reasons within our control, we will send a replacement kit free of charge.

Free Retest Promise: if your sample can't be tested or your result comes back inconclusive, we'll send you a free replacement kit. One free replacement kit per order. To use it, email support@fungalnailtest.com with your order number within 30 days of receiving your result (or our notice that your sample could not be tested). The promise is a replacement kit only: it is not a refund and does not change section 9 (All sales final) or section 5 (Accuracy).

5. Accuracy

qPCR is a highly sensitive testing method, but no test is 100% accurate. False negatives can occur, for example if the sample does not include affected nail. A positive result means fungal DNA was detected; it does not on its own confirm the cause of every nail change.

6. Testing methods and contingencies

Our primary testing method is qPCR DNA analysis. We aim to meet the turnaround times described in these Terms. From time to time, events beyond our reasonable control may temporarily prevent us from completing qPCR testing within those guidelines. Examples include equipment failure or maintenance, power outages, supply interruptions, natural disasters, severe weather, or other extraordinary circumstances affecting our facilities or partners.

In those situations, we may use a validated alternative testing method so that your sample can still be processed without unnecessary delay. We apply the same professional standards we use for qPCR. When an alternative method is used and the result would otherwise be reported as negative for fungal DNA, we require triple-negative confirmation (three concordant negative results) before issuing that negative report. Every result, whether from qPCR or an alternative method, is reviewed and signed off by a licensed Canadian podiatrist or a medical laboratory technologist (MLT) we contract for that purpose. If we cannot complete testing to these standards, we will contact you and, where applicable, the Free Retest Promise in section 4 may apply.

Use of an alternative method under this section does not reduce the quality standard we apply to your result, and it does not change section 5 (Accuracy) or section 2 (Not a substitute for medical care).

7. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in your local currency based on your location and include free tracked shipping. Payment is processed securely by PayPal. Any applicable taxes, duties or import fees outside Canada are the customer's responsibility.

Promo codes: one promo code per order. Promo codes cannot be combined with the bulk discount (15% off 3 or more kits); if both apply, the larger discount is used.

8. Shipping

Kits ship in plain, unmarked packaging, normally within 24 hours (business days). Delivery times depend on your location and the postal carrier. A prepaid return envelope is included for your sample.

9. All sales final

Because each kit is a single-use medical sampling product, all sales are final and kits cannot be returned or refunded once shipped. If you need to cancel, contact us before your kit ships for a full refund. If your kit arrives damaged or incomplete, email us within 14 days of delivery and we will send a replacement free of charge.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to a kit or test is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make about treatment based on a result. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

11. Bulk and clinic orders

Healthcare practitioners and clinics may order kits in bulk. Separate pricing and terms may apply; see our For Clinics page or email us for details.

12. Privacy

How we handle your personal information, sample and results is explained in our Privacy Policy.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of New Brunswick and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect when you place your order applies to that order.
